Burrowing Owl Preens At Twilight with a City Light In the Background
A burrowing owl (Athene cunicularia) preens in the morning twilight. The round orb behind it is a distant city light. Burrowing owls are not endangered, but in California they are listed as a Species of Concern with rapid population declines due to habitat loss.
