Brown Bear – Lake Clark National Park
When Alaskan coastal brown bears come out of hibernation the sedge grass is an important food source before the berries ripen and the salmon runs arrive. Sedge grass doesn’t have a lot of calories so the coastal brown bears eat a lot of it. We watched this bear for quite a while as he happily grazed and moved between the best areas of grass. He was so busy feeding that he continued feeding as he crossed the small tidal channel to find the next good spot.
