We were in a small icebreaker ship traveling off the Austfonna glacier in Nordaustlandet, Svalbard when our guide Rinie van Muers spotted a tiny bit of yellow in the midst of all the icebergs. None of the passengers could spot the bear until we were quite a ways into the ice. The bear was interested in us and provided quite a show. She was very curious about us. She climbed the iceberg to get a better view of us an was sniffing and watching us. We imagined she was calculating how to get on board.
