Elephant Portrait as he Reaches up for Branches
A close up of a backlit elephant (Loxodonta africana) reaching up for his next bite. If you look closely you might notice that he is wearing a collar. Part of the range of these elephants extends into a hunting area. There is some agreement that the hunting area will not hunt the collared elephants so a few of the big males are protected in this way.
