Brown Bear: Lake Clark National Park, Alaska USA
On a warm July evening we found a brown bear feeding on sedge grass in Lake Clark National Park. We tried to anticipate where it was headed so the bear would approach us and I walked into the tidal river in hopes of a reflection shot. Nature had other plans. Another bear appeared in the distance and this bear, a particularly fearful juvenile ran past us. The bear calmed down as it realized the other bear was not in pursuit and crossed to far side of the river to keep better watch for the bear. It didn’t take much of a break from eating, grabbing a mouthful as soon as he reached the edge and then continued up while eating.
