Prowling Puma

Puma concolor: Torres del Paine National Park, Chile
It was early morning in Torres del Paine National Park when one of our guides spotted a puma! We followed her on foot watching her explore her territory. The puma walked at her leisurely pace through dense chaparral and although I was on a cleared trail, I struggled to keep her in view especially with the 50 pounds of photography equipment I carried. All of a sudden it came together when the puma changed direction. Initially she backtracked along her parallel path but then took a turn in my direction. After passing me she jumped the fence boarding the park and continued her patrol on neighboring ranchland.
