Jaguar: Caiman Ecological Refuge, Brazil
We waited for nearly two hours in the baking October heat watching the mom relax in the shade. We knew the mom had a one year old cub and we were hoping we would get a chance to see it. As it got close to sunset she got up and walked away from us into some trees. You could hear her calling for her cub, we thought we had lost her. We looked on the other side of the trees but there was tall leafless brush that made spotting difficult. Eventually, our guide spotted them lying about 10 meters apart in the brush. After a few minutes the cub approached mom, rubbing against here in greeting. They played gently and she groomed it. As it was getting dark they got up together and moved on.
