Considering the Route

Although I live near mountain lion territory, I or no one I know has encountered one. So we traveled to Chile and Torres del Paine National Park so that we would have a chance to see pumas in person. On this morning our guides spotted a puma early and as we watched she followed a park trail with the sunlight rising behind her. Without warning she detoured off the path – perhaps attracted by a smell. She seemed to be considering a route along the granite cliffs which were much larger than you can see in the photo. Although I carried a 600mm I wanted to show some of the scale of the cliffs so I used my 100-400 at 360 to put her in the environment. After a brief time she continued along the path.
