Bald Eagle Fishing

Bald eagles (Haliaeetus leucocephalus ) gather at the Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve near Haines Alaska, US in late fall to feed on spawned out salmon. Some of the dead fish float under small holes in the ice at the river's edge. Several eagles attempted to pull these out but most were unsuccessful. This eagle seemed an expert and was able to maneuver the salmon out. Unfortunately as soon as he retrieved it another eagle swooped in and chased him away.
