Although many cats don't like water, jaguars thrive in it along the rivers in the Pantanal. We watched this jaguar hunting along the river's edge following the water hyacinth that congregated there. Here he briefly turned toward our boat as he followed the edge watching for a caiman or perhaps a capybara hiding within the hyacinth. A few times we saw or heard a splash as he tried for something within the vegetation, but he didn't catch anything while we watched. The success rate hunting from the water seems to be pretty low. The heat was stifling - over 100 F so perhaps swimming was a good way to cool off and hunt at the same time.
