Leopard: Lower Zambezi National Park, Zambia
This male leopard cub had been exploring but he made his way back as darkness approached. His sister was feeding on the leg of a carcass at the base of the tree where mom was resting. The sister fiercely growled and hissed at her brother to keep him away while she ate. Our guide Marshall explained that this is typical and even the mom cannot get close when one of the cubs feeds. Instead the male climbed the pictured tree about 20 feet away. This was wise as nearby hyenas could smell the carcass and were approaching. The sister made it up into her tree just before one of the hyenas came in and stole the remains of her meal.
