Two Brown Bear Cubs Playing in the Inside Passage Alaska
It was fun watching these two brown bears (Ursus arctos) playing and we were trying to figure out if they were siblings. There were two yearling cubs that seemed to be hanging out with mom and an third cub (the bigger one in the photo) that would wander further away but came in to play with one or both of the yearling cubs. We were wondering if it was a third cub that is more independent or perhaps a cub from a different mom that had recently been kicked out. Sometimes cubs that are recently on their own will stay close to other bears.
